Hiking

Slowly but surely

Just to keep you abreast of the hair situation. I'd say there's enough to blow in the breeze now!

The pile of wood is Craig's current house project. He's building us a pergola on the back patio.

Secret stash

So, that pile of cars has been missing for weeks and the doll head-for months! I was actually going a little crazy wondering what on earth had happened to all his matchbox cars. One day, the basket was empty and I couldn't find them anywhere-just like that. There are not too many places to lose or hide things in our house and I looked everywhere. I searched the dog crates, laundry baskets, drawers, under furniture, behind couch cushions, in the closets and found nothing....absolutely nothing. I had kind of given up on the doll head, although it was always in the back of my mind, taunting me. I thought maybe the dogs had eaten it, but never had any telltale signs, like little bits of wood, and they are never that thorough. Fast forward to last week. I came out of our bedroom and Miles met me near the door. In his hand was a dump truck, a MISSING dump truck to be exact. Immediately, I started scouting around, I knew it had to have come from nearby. And then, it hit me, the back of the big, comfy chair-of course! There is a little flap of fabric that Velcros open and closed, making the perfect little pouch. I took a peek inside and found the whole pile of loot you see above-including the doll head!!! Hilarious! It's crazy to think I had never even seen him do this or express any interest in the back of that chair. He must have been very busy while I was washing dishes, doing laundry or otherwise occupied. I was so relieved to find that doll head, it's a little ridiculous. Nice to have our mystery solved too!

Squinty McGee

Well, this is what you get from an overcast day, not enough light in the living room and a crazy flash on the camera (and possibly mom sitting too close). On a side note: he's actually starting to outgrow clothes again. I'm really going to miss this shirt, it was one of my favorites!

Just like that

I have been waiting, w...a...i...t...i...n...g for the day that Miles would play along with all the songs that have hand gestures. He will listen to the songs and watch us do the gestures, but hasn't been interested in joining us at all. Then, one day, he decided to go for it. This was the first one-'If You're Happy'. He will also do Isty, Bitsy Spider and Pattycake. I came in a little late with the video, but the first verse does repeat at the end. Plus, it's less of me singing! :-) (my favorite part is the 'if you're sad')

Practice

Miles gets to practice his physical prowess and I get to practice staying calm, even though I'm terrified he'll fall and bonk his head. However, I remained on his bed- the picture of relaxation and guess what, everything was fine.....(the superstitious person in me is very aware this could change any moment)! Now, just wait until he figures out he can carry that around and use it to climb up on all kinds of things. Oh boy.

Loves his oatmeal. I think Nana got this shot while she was here.

Happy Mother's Day

We had a lovely, albeit short, visit with my mom this weekend. It's always great to have her in town and thankfully, she still hasn't given up on the idea of moving back here!

Treats from Nana

My mom was visiting this weekend and brought a quilt for Miles to use on his bed. Remember this one? It is still on Miles' bedroom wall-too nice to roll around on! Nana outdid herself again. I am in love with this quilt and I think Miles is pretty happy with it too. There are animals, letters, stars and lots of marbles (aka: balls!!). I think the size will be perfect for quite some time. Thanks Nana!!

Before.....

....and after!

So far, this is really the only way we can get vegetables into this kid. He is getting a tad more adventurous with sampling in the last week or so. He tried a cucumber AND a stuffed mushroom. Unfortunately, they didn't stay in his mouth too long, but hey, it's a start!

Guess I can't get too mad at them

....they do put up with a lot!

Oh the joy!

This scene took place a few nights ago after dinner. If only I could remember how much fun it is to run. Miles is a great teacher though, so there's hope for me yet!
