Dance party

This has become the new activity after dinner....a good old fashioned dance party! Miles is working hard on his new moves, but you'll see that his balance doesn't always support his efforts. Craig is actually the best at getting him moving, he's much more enthusiastic than I. After learning the sign for music, he runs to the stereo every chance he gets. We also have a little bit of a problem with button pushing, but so far, no new disasters (see earlier post).

Play dates are fun!

Can't you tell?

Actually, they did have a lot of fun together, this is just the end of the session and I didn't get a very good shot. Russin captured this one:

It's hard to catch his little smirk and I love that she got it!

Regretfully

In one of those brilliant, non-thinking parenting decisions, I decided it would be 'fun' and 'cute' to download some games for Miles on the iPhone. Little did I know, I would be inadvertently creating a monster. I now have to sneak out of his line of vision to pick up the phone or text, because if he sees or hears the phone, HE HAS TO PLAY WITH IT IMMEDIATELY. He's even figured out where I keep it hanging out during the day and walks over and signs please to play with it. Admittedly, kind of hard to resist. Especially since he loves, loves, LOVES it!
Brother, here I am with a 14-month old and I'm already considering screen restrictions. Which, if you know us, is kind of funny. We haven't had a cell phone for years and neither of us plays video games. The cell phone was a hand-me-down gift. Definitely more technology than I know how to handle.
I console myself by admitting that this is the world he's inheriting, technology out the yin-yang, so in reality, I'm doing him a favor, right? I figure I'll just ride the wave of it's newness and novelty and let him play. It's bound to wear off eventually.......and if it doesn't, well, we'll cross that bridge at a later date!

Trying to breathe

Last week found Salt Lake buried in an inversion. This means we had quite a few 'red' days with very high particulate counts. Ultimately, they warn you to drive less, exercise less and if it were possible, breathe less. It's quite disgusting. The only respite is the mountains. So, we loaded up the car and gave it a try.

Blue skies, sunshine and a very happy poodle straight ahead.

Starting out on our hike. Isn't Aunt Mary nice to carry the babe? She wants an extra workout and who am I to argue! :-)

YES!!! Sunshine and fresh air. Our lungs and psyches were so grateful. Miles actually dozed off for a portion of the hike, so good for his psyche too!

Escape artist

During a recent diaper change, Miles decided to forgo the part where you put your diaper back on and managed an escape. He had great fun running around the house half naked, so it was hard to be too adamant about re-dressing. I'm guessing there will be a lot more of this as the weather gets warmer and he figures out how to take off his clothes on his own. Hopefully, it will make potty training that much easier! Plus, how cute is that tush??

Wasting no time

Now that he's figured out walking, it's on to kicking!!

Christmas

A few shots from the holidays.

We were happy to have Nana back in town for Christmas!

Blocks and fun container Daddy made.

Playing with the Lego people from Aunt Stephanie and Uncle Aaron

A post-Christmas Eve dinner dancing session with Aunt Mary

A picture with Mama (I have no idea what is going through Miles' head, but it is clearly not 'smile'!)
